The Entertainment District restaurant will serve its last meal this month after four and a half years
Four and a half years after opening, Entertainment District mainstay Thoroughbred (304 Richmond West, at John, 416-551-9221, tbto.ca) has announced it will be shutting down this month.
“After 14,536 orders of kung pao cauliflower served, we have decided to close the doors of Thoroughbred Food + Drink,” writes chef Ariel Coplan in a statement supplied to media.
“It’s been an amazing ride over the last 4.5 years filled with friends, family, laughs and the warmest feeling of gratitude that you could imagine. I’ve worked my ass off my whole career towards owning a restaurant, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we have achieved with Thoroughbred. This restaurant has taught me a lot about business, but more importantly it’s taught me about myself.”
Coplan adds that he plans to spend more time working on Not 9 To 5, a group focused on mental health advocacy within the restaurant industry. Until then, the restaurant’s last day of service will be October 21.
