Gravitas depicts the mesmerizing effects of gravity on the universe. To create the 300-million-pixel galaxy simulations that appear throughout this DVD, animator John Dubinski used 512 processors on the parallel supercomputer called McKenzie at the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics. Composer John Kameel Farah's electronic dreamscapes accompany transfixing images of unimaginably massive star formations. (Wear the included 3-D shades for the full trippiness factor - and colour.) The enclosed booklet provides thousands of words of fascinating scientific background.
The Gravitas DVD launch happens at the Music Gallery tonight (Thursday, March 9).
