According to Rothsay Recycling, meat waste is turned into protein, minerals, water and fat and either returned to the agricultural chain in the form of feed supplements or used in industrial and consumer products.
The company says that if the 27 billion kilograms of North American animal by-products produced annually were simply disposed of, existing landfills would be filled within four years.
