From the DVD's novel paper binding to k-os's handwritten message to fans on the back (characteristic pontifications on his own product to explain the provocative title: "Are we trying to fool people? Artists? Do we con the public?"), you can see the self-reflexive hand of Kheaven Brereton all over Publicity Stunt. More so when you play the well-produced disc and learn from the artist himself that "you have to search around for things." All the addenda, artwork, mystery and complex presentation point to the fact that k-os really doesn't want this to seem like a cash grab.
But he shouldn't sweat it so much. With its clear, close footage of his awesome live Molson Amphitheatre show this summer, all of his fascinating Love Movement-directed videos, loads of behind-the-scenes stuff, lots of (too much?) personal biographical material, bizarre creative skits, sequences of straight breakdancing to k-os beats, you'd have to be nuts to think that. This disc is fucking endless.
