WHO: Aleah Shimla, visual arts student at York University, bartender and aspiring indie actress
WHERE: The Cadillac Lounge (1296 Queen West, 416-536-7717)
WHEN: Saturday, 1 pm
CLOTHING: "I love this work outfit. I paid $12.99 for the vintage Boy Scout shirt from Mad Gypsy (405 Roncesvalles, 416-516-9054). My painted-on Mavi jeans were $59 at the Byward Market in Ottawa, and my five-year-old Docs are still in great shape. I paid about $250 for them at a biker shop in London and got them instead of getting tattooed that day. I'm wearing a leopard-print scarf in my hair that I picked up last Christmas for $7 at the Tie Rack (Eaton Centre, 220 Yonge, 416-974-9994), while my studded watch was $29 from Aldo (Eaton Centre, 220 Yonge, 416-593-9146, and others). Jon at New Tribe (232 Queen West, 416-977-2786) did my tongue ($60) and ear piercings ($58 for two), and all my face paint is M.A.C (363 Queen West, 416-979-2171, and others)."
HAIR: Miranda at Pretty Eclectic (502 Queen West, 416-203-6620) advises me on my frequent colour and cut changes, and Karen adds extensions once in a while."
MY STYLE: "80s punk meets dark pin-up."
INTO: "Checking out galleries, occult films, Rue Morgue screenings at the Bloor Cinema and dancing at Vazaleen, mixed-media sculpting and clothing design, acting and modelling portfolios. I also enjoy frequent shoots with my photographer friends Will (Zaiden) Chrysler and Rebecca Ramsbottom, and supporting local bands like my friends in the band Perdition (playing tonight at the Vatikan, 1032 Queen West, 416-533-9166, with Universal Love Attack and Fetish Masquerade)."
