WHO: Anna Sapershteyn, clown and performance artist; owner of Stained (firstname.lastname@example.org), a clothing revival line; the Candy Butcher in The Spiegel Show at Harbourfront Centre (235 Queens Quay West, 416-973-4000).
WHEN: Wednesday afternoon
WHERE: The Spiegel Tent'ntavern
CLOTHING: "My shoes are hand-me-ups from my niece Julia 'The Kid.' The black leather ankle bracelet was a present from Dani C. at Lot 16 (1136 Queen West, 416-531-6556). I found this beaded ankle bracelet at the Re:Treat festival. I used it to hold up my socks in the mud pit while I was wrestling - they're good for traction. I borrowed these jeans from a girl named Kristen a really long time ago. Got these sunglasses from Malabar (14 McCaul, 416-598-2581) for $15. The waist purse is from some psy-trance shop in Amsterdam. My friend Hanne Whitfield (Listen) designed this shirt. I totally love it! The necklace was a birthday gift from my papa, Leonid. It's from Corktown Designs (55 Mill, 416-861-3020) in the Distillery District. I got my earrings from Carlos, who has a booth in front of El Gordo Fine Foods ($10, 214 Augusta, 416-205-9981). Total bargain. The bracelet and ring are from Ecuador. I stole this Wonder Woman bracelet from my mama, Eugenia's, jewellery box many moons ago. My bag was custom-made by Hanne and Reba. They have a line called Push the Envelope. You can get one at Urbane Cyclist ($135, 180 John, 416-979-9733). The hat belongs to my lover, Rollin' Cash, and by wearing it I can be identified as a burglar of shnergs. A shnerg is a person who complains a lot and is just generally miserable - in other words, people that suck. I steal from them and I like it."
HAIR: "For the past two months it has mostly lived under a wig. Otherwise, I seem to chop it off when I get emotional."
MY STYLE: "Mostly begged, borrowed or stolen from my sister Slava."
INTO: "Hanging upside down a lot at the Centre of Gravity (1300 Gerrard East, 416-469-1440); eating a bunch of food at Le Petit Dejeuner (191 King East, 416-703-1560); getting an iced Americano from i deal coffee (84 Nassau, 416-364-7700) and biking to Ward's Island; dancing on a Sunday afternoon at the weekly Cherry Beach Promise party, or, on a Tuesday, admiring the movers and shakers at the Trinity Bellwoods drum circle; busking around Toronto all summer and performing at the Toronto International Circus Festival in September, www.tocircusfestival.com; The Spiegel show - it's just been extended to August 12! Go to www.spiegeltent.ca and buy your tickets!"
