Beth Washburn

Rating: NNNNN

WHO: Beth Washburn (aka Hank from the Jane Waynes), house painter, cornet player and sociologist

WHERE: Alleyway beside fair-trade coffee house Alternative Grounds (333 Roncesvalles, 416-534-5543)

WHEN: Sunday, 11:30 am

CLOTHING: “This hat was the best $30 I’ve ever spent. I got it a couple of summers ago from a shop in Kensington Market that has since closed. My friend Siobhan got this Dodgy T-shirt for me in Australia. The orange jacket I’m wearing was $7.99 at Value Village in Burlington. I got my painter jeans there, too, for $6.99. I found this belt for 25 cents at a garage sale about a decade ago. I got my Doc Martens from D&M Clearance (566 Yonge, 416-967-1711). They cost about $100. I made my necklace from hemp and beads, and I bought my ear cuff from a vendor at York University for about $5.”

MY STYLE: “Cheap, recycled, comfortable and functional.”

INTO: “Cycling, organic vegetarian food, yoga, public protest, green space and playing with the Jane Waynes and Les Singes Bleus (www.richardpowrie.com/jfg/lessingesbleus). Catch the Jane Waynes at the North By Northeast music festival Saturday (June 7) at midnight at the Silver Dollar.”WHO: Beth Washburn (aka Hank from the Jane Waynes), house painter, cornet player and sociologist
