It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and that means one thing, holiday fairs and a whole lot of cheer! If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the festive spirit, this annual event in the recently renamed Sankofa Square, formerly known as Yonge-Dundas Square, is the ultimate hot spot to ring in the holidays right in the heart of Toronto.
From sparkling lights, to carnival rides, live entertainment, midway games, prize giveaways and more, Winter Glow is back for its second year from Dec. 5 to 22 with entertainment for the whole family.
The festival kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony on Thursday, headlined by a dazzling tree lighting event accompanied by a beautiful live performance from St. Michael’s Choir School.
Guests can take a ride on Winter Glow’s 45-ft. ferris wheel and admire sprawling views of the city’s epic skyline, then enjoy its glistening centrepiece known as the Tree of Remembrance, where those who donate can attach a handwritten note with a yellow ribbon to a loved one they’ve lost. This fundraising initiative will support local charities through The Rotary Club of Toronto and its Foundation.
But it doesn’t stop there! A rotating selection of fun and festive pop-ups, interactive brand experiences and product sampling stations will also be available for the duration of Winter Glow.
Stop by Thursday to Sunday during opening weekend and check out SHEIN’s larger-than-life Box Santa, snap a pic with Father Christmas himself and tag #SHEINboxsanta for the chance to claim a free gift!
Guests can also enter prize giveaways as part of the festival’s Chevrolet Silverado and GM EV Experience, which includes the chance to meet Santa and peruse a line-up of electric vehicles including the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the GMC HUMMER EV, Cadillac LYRIQ, and Chevrolet Equinox EV.
The Silverado will also be powering the Rotary Club’s 30ft tree.
For the entire festival, the square will be filled with the magical sounds of classic Christmas tunes, courtesy of SiriusXM, as well as live buskers, carol singers, and plenty more surprises.
The joy will ramp up a notch on Dec. 10 at student night, where students can enjoy discounted rides, games, food, beverages and a live DJ. So, round up your friends and enjoy the best of Winter Glow by simply presenting a Student ID.
From Dec. 13 to 15, create special memories at Winter Glow’s family weekend with kid-friendly activities, discounted rides, plenty of fun games, food, drinks, and live entertainment.
Winter Glow is open Monday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Admission is free, ride tickets are $6 for a single, $20 for four, or $37 for eight.
