Rating: NNNNN

who: Carolyn Megill, visual artist and cultural event planner

where: Queen and Saulter

Clothing: “My ivory raw wool duster is vintage Russian and a gift from my daughter Robin. My wild 60s disco printed top, skirt and scarf came from Value Village (1319 Bloor West, 416-539-0585). My fuchsia gold-embroidered scarf is all the way from Little India (Coxwell and Gerrard). My son ‘s girlfriend, Gillian, gave me my Afghan hat. My sequined, embroidered, mirrored bag is vintage Turkish. I got it 15 years ago in the Annex. I’ve been collecting and wearing lots of jewellery for years, and the pieces come from every continent. They were gifts from the heart from family and friends, or thrilling discoveries at vintage stores or multicultural boutiques. These treasured coloured glass beads are from Susanne Rouleau at the St. Lawrence Sunday Market (93 Front East). My Little Art Show boots come from Board Walk Shoes (3495 Lawrence East, 416-289-1045).”

Hair: “My daughter Caitlin Wright does it. She works at Now Salon (69 Yorkville, 416-922-8088).”

My Style: “Funky colour junky.”

Into: “Planning for the fourth annual Riverdale Art Walk fundraiser, The Little Art Show, the much-anticipated and exciting silent auction being held in the beautiful BMW Toronto building (11 Sunlight Park Road) Saturday (November 19). It’s a fabulous opportunity to buy original art donated by more than 170 generous artists from around Toronto and further afield (www.littleartshow.com or www.riverdaleartwalk.com) expressing myself with colour, whether I’m doing my art or creating a living space around me creating magical spaces indoors and in the garden collecting original works of art fundraising for my artistic community, which has given me the opportunity to meet many artists and feel a deep sense of belonging to a vibrant and vital process.”
