Where to study: Doctor (Without Borders)

If you want to combine your desire to save lives with your spirit of adventure and, in many instances, selflessness, joining Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is a great strategy. Founded on the belief that all people, regardless of religion, race or political affiliation, have the right to medical care, health care professionals who join MSF often enter volatile and dangerous situations in order to save lives.

An undergraduate degree in the sciences, especially biology, leading to graduate studies in medicine, is the first step to becoming a member of this organization. Alternatively, a nursing degree is ideal preparation. A desire to travel, learn about new cultures and some knowledge of politics and world affairs is beneficial, too.
