SIGNATURE PRODUCT: The tops of Lubo Brezina’s Terrace coffee and side tables are assembled from offcuts of his massive custom found-timber furniture. A patchwork of gnarly old planks sits on skinny stainless steel or brass legs.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: “I’ve learned that when using reclaimed wood, it’s important to let the material dictate the outcome,” says Brezina. Wood from the demolished 48 Abell artist lofts becomes a Japanese-style dining table, and 300-year-old yellow pine posts are carved into a trio of simple, substantial stools.
NEW WORKS: To get a feel for other public space projects Brezina has in the works, take a seat on one of his Burnt Benches in the Teresa’s Place parkette on the north side of Dundas just west of Dufferin.
WHERE TO BUY IT: Terrace tables, ranging from $900 to $1,700, along with other pieces, are on view in Brezina’s window gallery (1659 Dundas West) and available at Made (867 Dundas West, 416-607-6384).
