Artistic merit

If you’re a professional makeup artist with a minimum of two years experience in the biz, you may be eligible to enter Lancôme Canada’s Canadian Makeup Artist of the Year contest. Better get on it pronto – the deadline for submissions is September 17. You’ll need a copy of your professional resumé, three 8-by-10 prints of your best work, and – here’s the hard part – a 350-word essay entitled My Makeup Philosophy. The award is worth the brain strain. Among other things, it includes $3,000 of Lancôme product and $5,000 cash. Go to www.LancomeMakeupArtists.com for entry info.

Work it

For all you honeys makin’ money but with no time to shop, the Bay has paired up with Jones New York, Anne Klein and Estée Lauder to bring one-stop shopping, trend reporting and beauty advice to your office. That’s right, during the month of September you and your co-workers can shop and sample makeup without leaving your desks. Talk about multi-tasking. Book your shopping event at 416-861-6050.

80s icon

Join art, music, film, dance and fashion scenesters as they pay tribute to late, great NYC graffer-turned-art star Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) at Mondo.Urban (Revival, 783 College) on September 16. Hosted by MuchMusic hottie Sarah Taylor, the show features original Basquiat-inspired works. Doors open at 7 pm. $10. 416-535-7888.
