Buh-bye, burbs

After surviving those suburban treks to get your coveted ultra-trendy and reasonably priced

H&M

(Hennes & Mauritz) gear, today (September 30) is a day to rejoice. The flagship location (Eaton Centre, 1 Dundas West) is opening its doors at noon to expose three floors and more than 28,000 square feet of retail heaven, including lines for women, men, teens and kids. And if that isn’t enough, there’s also a 13,000-square-foot location opening at 15 Bloor West at the end of October. 416-593-0064, www.hm.com.

Northern exposure

Go Canada! Thanks to the efforts of the FDCC ( Fashion Design Council of Canada ) – plus the cities of Toronto and Milan and the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Toronto – an installation of 18 garments from killer homegrown fashion labels David Dixon, Denis Gagnon, Paul Hardy, Pink Tartan, Arthur Mendonça and Renata Morales are on view at the Fiera , the main venue of Milan’s fashion week, aka Camera della Moda Italiana , taking place through October 3. Maybe now the world will see that even though we all live in igloos up here, our fashions are hot, hot, hot. www.fdcc.ca.
