Sweet charity

Let’s give a big round of applause to local accessories designer and Metro News columnist Nathalie-Roze Fischer , who turned compassion for the people devastated by the South Asian tsunami into an incredibly lucrative day of fundraising. With only a few days to pull together the Shop For The Cause event, Fischer used her kick-ass networking skills to round up volunteers and donations – everything from fancy dinners to makeup, yoga classes and designer clothing – from her extended fashionista circle. And get this: the sale, held Saturday, January 8, at Bellefair United Church, followed up by Monday’s silent auction, brought in a whopping $16,017.30, which the government matched, bringing the total sumraised for the Canadian Red Cross to an astounding $32,034.60! www.nathalie-roze.com.
