Fur sure

Warning: if you can’t stomach animal furs, leather and/or lingerie-clad beauties, this one’s not for you. Notable designers Izzy Camilleri (high-end leather suede and fur), Ghetto Panda by Christopher Estridge and Bryan Van Dusen (fur-focused menswear) and Franke by Kendra Francis (luxury lingerie) are teaming up tonight (February 17) to showcase their designs at the – grrrrr – Untamed event at C Lounge (456 Wellington West). 9 pm start, complimentary hors d’oeuvres. 416-260-9393. RSVP to clarisse@libertygroup.com by 5 pm the day of the event.

Name game

The Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) has announced that the new official moniker for our biannual runway collections will be L’Oréal Fashion Week , starting at the fall 2005 shows running March 14 to 17 at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex. Before you cry sellout, consider that all the big North American fashion shows have sponsored names: think New York (Olympus Fashion Week) and Los Angeles (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week). So I say congrats, T-dot, a little insurgence of cash never hurt. It is fashion, after all, where production costs are sky-high and more money equals more publicity. Let’s hope that now we’ll start getting the international recognition our designers deserve. www.lorealfashionweek.ca.

Care to win

To all you of who still haven’t contributed coin (or action) to help the people devastated by the tsunami, please head on down to Lululemon Athletica (734 Queen West), where they’re holding an in-store fundraiser that aims to collect $1,000 to donate to CARE Canada’s tsunami relief efforts. Every $10 cash donation gets you entered into a draw to win awesome prizes ranging from yoga classes to all-natural facials. I know readership for this column by far surpasses 100 people, so I’m begging a measly hundred of you to show some support by coughing up a tenner and making the store’s goal a reality. Please and thank you, for real. 416-703-1399,
