Just bead it

The intricacies of beadwork come to life at the Bata Shoe Museum tonight (Thursday, May 5) when nearly two dozen Toronto artists create beautiful beaded pieces right in front of your eyes at Beading Bonanza . Not only will they inspire you to make you own beaded masterpieces, but they’ll also share their knowledge and invaluable expertise to help you realize your project goals. 5 to 8 pm. Fast-forward to fall Friday (May 6) night when local clothing designer Zoran Dobric unveils his autumn collection at Gypsy Co-Op (817 Queen West). Consider dressing to impress. Future shop

If you’re looking for more designer monikers to add to your fabulous name-dropping list, be sure to hit the Ontario College of Art & Design this weekend, Friday Sunday (May 6 to 8), for a showcase of the best work of this year’s graduating class. Covering all areas of art and design including drawing and painting, photography, sculpture/installation, ceramics, printmaking, jewellery, textiles, video, advertising design, illustration, graphic design, industrial design and environmental design, the Graduate Exhibition (at 100 McCaul) is an excellent place to meet Canada’s – and the world’s – future design leaders. 11 am to 6 pm. Cool for crafts

Join an eclectic grouping of Toronto artists and entrepreneurs for the second annual Mondo Bazaar Saturday (May 7) in the Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen West) ballroom. Not only can you shop the unique cross-section of locally made and imported gifts and artwork – from jewellery to home decor – but you can also sip a cocktail and/or enjoy and aromatherapy massage. There will even be a kids’ arts and crafts area from 1 to 3 pm, and special surprises in honour of Mother’s Day. Admission is free. 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. 416-536-8562.
