Queen West Canadian fashion outpost Boutique Le Trou (940 Queen West, 416-516-7122) brought its racks of locally designed separates to life on June 15 at Liberty Village furniture spot Casalife (170-171 East Liberty, 416-922-2785, www.casalife.com). The Shape Of Space event paired clothing and interior design and featured a gaggle of barefoot glamazons tiptoeing down a shag carpeted runway in spring looks by Vawk , Zoran Dobric and Obakki . Next big things Michelle Turpin and Jason Meyers stole the show with previews of fancy fall frocks.
It takes 'toos
NXNE kids puffing cigs between sets outside Crow Bar a few weeks back passed the time trying to figure out what chic new resto-lounge-type night spot had opened up above the venue. It's actually Black Line Studio (577 King West, 416-850-8227), a swanky King West take on the traditional tattoo parlour. Guest artists and a staff of expert inkers offer top-of-the-line tats in a mod setting designed by TV's Designer Guys. Best to keep that last bit to yourself when showing off for the boys down at the biker bar.
Out of town tip
It's anybody's guess whether the Madonna-philes who flooded Montreal for the June 21 Confessions tour stop or the Formula 1 cars racing through the streets during Sunday's (June 25) Grand Prix will cause a louder roar. If you find yourself in the middle of the mayhem, the city's Festival Mode & Design also continues until June 25. The free fest on three outdoor runways on Avenue McGill College features 50 fashion shows by local and international talents. Visit www.sensationmode.com for info.
All that jazz
Jazz fans stopping by the Downtown Jazz Festival mainstage at Nathan Phillips Square will be able to shop between scats and doo-wops at the festival's Artisans' Village .
