Bridge + Bardot

BRIDGE + BARDOT 1138 Dundas West, 647-748-1138, bridgeandbardot.com

If you still think vintage shopping means diving into a bin of funky-smelling castoffs at your local thrift shop, you need to visit Dundas and Ossington’s Bridge + Bardot. Aside from the retro labels on the store’s clothing and accessories, you’d never know they’re old, because owners Rose Broadbent, Gagan Bassi and Gurjeet Kaur Bassi stick to a strict routine when picking their stock.

On Mondays, the store is closed while the trio travel to their secret vintage sources to choose pieces they think will work for the season. (For this fall, that’s patterned blouses and wide-legged trousers.) Tuesday through Friday they clean, alter and steam everything before tagging it and putting it on the floor good as new for the Saturday rush.

They also mix in merch from Toronto brands Muttonhead, Varsity Brown and Cuchara to keep things looking extra-fresh.

Bridge + Bardot picks: Sparkle, sparkle in a slouchy sequin blazer, $43 the Bridge + Bardot team are crazy for printed jumpers, $35 they tie-dye their own collection of tops, too, $23.

Look for: A personal picking service where they hunt down specific pieces just for you.

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 11 am to 7 pm, Sunday noon to 6 pm.
