Karl Lagerfeld visits Toronto…

Normally refined fashion editors, socialites and an unidentified number of people-with-lots-of-money-who-buy-condos just about lost it last night when Karl Lagerfeld came to town to toast the launch of a collaboration between Art Shoppe Lofts and Lobbies by Karl Lagerfeld. This was his first visit to Canada.

The city’s typically too-cool-for-school crowd couldn’t get enough of the Kaiser as he made the rounds briefly in the VIP area, and then even more briefly in the common event space before disappearing into yet another, ultra, ultra-VIP area near the back of the event.

You can’t really blame the man – even the most composed partygoers turned into fashion versions of rabid pre-teen One Direction fans, phones cocked and ready to capture Lagerfeld’s every move. One lucky blogger managed to get her Chanel clutch signed by the man of the evening, prompting a gaggle of other bloggers to photograph and Instagram the signed clutch. Ah, the power of celebrity.
