Store of the week: LoversLand

LoversLand 215 Ossington, 416-551-3321, shoploversland.com

Usually, the thought of bridal and love-themed stores make me a little queasy. New Ossington boutique LoversLand is the exception.

The quaint shop caters to brides and, well, anyone in the throes of love, minus the pretension and sickeningly corporate cog-in-the-wheel-of-institutionalized-marriage feel of most stores of its kind.

LoversLand is a sea of white, from the lights and curtains to the walls and clothes. A glowing red sign in the window reads, “Love me till I’m me again.” Among the racks is a whimsical, Pinterest-ready collection of gifts, accessories, lingerie and swimwear for both sexes. The vibe is pretty and aspirational, to be sure, but also laid-back and inclusive.

The very back of the shop features a lace tent called The Haven for one-on-one bridal dress appointments. LoversLand carries a selection of international and, most importantly, local designers.

LoversLand picks Dress styles and accessories that can’t be found elsewhere in town, like Rue De Seine, Mira Mandic, twobirds Bridesmaid and LittleDoe. Check out Brooklyn-based designer Rebecca Schoneveld‘s trunk show from February 20 to 22.

Look for The shop’s healthy selection of Canadian brands such as Fortnight Lingerie, Province Apothecary, Biko, Melanie Auld, Lady Hayes, Michelle Ross and more.

Hours Tuesday to Saturday 11 am to 7 pm, Sunday noon to 6 pm.
