Go to Grow Op

As Come Up To My Room is to indie-minded interior and industrial designers, the Gladstone Hotel’s newest exhibition, Grow Op, aims to be an alt and experimental venue for local landscape architects. Opening tonight (Thursday, April 25, from 6 to 10 pm reception tomorrow, Friday, April 26, 7 to 10 pm), the show presents more than 20 spaces that push the design envelope outside. Admission is $10, stu $5, and the show closes Sunday (April 28).

Bring spring

Toronto stylist and all around best dresser Odessa Paloma Parker hosts Fitzroy Boutique’s (972 Queen West, 647-520-7907, shopfitzroy.com) We Want Spring party and launch tonight (Thursday, April 25) from 7 to 11 pm. Clothing and accessories by Australian and Los Angeles-based brands are 10 per cent off, and Pinky’s Nails is on site working its manicure magic on guests’ digits.

Virginia J sale

Brace yourself, print fans. Virginia Johnson’s sample sale takes over her boutique (970 College, 416-516-3366, virginiajohnson.com) this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday (April 26 and 27), you can find beautiful pieces from past and current collections at serious discounts. Cash and cards will be accepted, and all sales are final.

Ma Zone exhibition

An exhibition of the work of artist Alina Martiros is on view until May 3 at Ma Zone (63 Jarvis, 416-868-0330, ma-zone.com). The textural paintings in washed-out shades are priced between $325 and $2,300. While you’re at the store, check out the spring line-up of housewares and furniture in owner Armin Martiros’s signature bold, colour-block hues.
