The week’s news, views and sales

Bay Bloor for dad

Bay Bloor Radio (Manulife Centre, 55 Bloor West, 416-967-1122, baybloorradio.com) is ready to help you score a great Father’s Day buy for your tech-inclined dad. In the headphone department, you can pick up a $79 pair of Sennheiser CX300 buds or treat him to Denon’s bestselling AHD1100 model ($159). If he’s more of a social listener, Tivoli radios come in eye-popping colours or classic wood-grain finishes for $199 to $349. Or you can always splurge on B&W’s A7 wireless system with four speakers and a built-in subwoofer, priced at $799.

Downtown outlet

Outlet shopping doesn’t have to mean schlepping out to the suburbs. This season you can find amazing discounts and deals right at Bloor and Bathurst, where Trove (791 Bathurst, 416-516-1258, trove.ca) is turning its Annex location into a Summer Outlet Store starting today (Thursday, June 6). Everything is half-price, with select item discounts upped to 75 per cent during flash sales throughout the launch weekend.

Do it on Dundas

On Saturday (June 8), Dundas West Fest shuts down Dundas between Roxton and Lansdowne for lots of sidewalk shopping ops between 11 am and 10 pm. There’s oodles of vintage to rifle through from Chosen Vintage, Penny Arcade, Philistine and Silver Falls, plus organic beauty buys from Province Apothecary and a clothing swap hosted by N/A Collective. Style at Luminato

Get your Luminato (luminatofestival.com) fashion fix at the Royal Ontario Museum (100 Queen’s Park, 416-586-8000, rom.on.ca), where Dutch designer duo Viktor&Rolf (viktor-rolf.com) exhibit their doll collection. Launching Sunday (June 9) and continuing to June 30, the show features miniature and incredibly detailed versions of signature looks from past collections. Admission is free.
