To Market: Chloe Comme Parris

Designers: Parris and Chloe Gordon (sisters)

Where: NYC Tradeshow Rendez-Vous at 608 West 28th St.

When: New York Fashion Week, Sept 17

Why did you choose Rendez-Vous tradeshow to participate in? We are participating in Rendez-Vous in New York as well as Paris. We chose it based on past designers that have participated in the show, as well as it’s reputation for promoting contemporary and unique brands.

How do you perceive the American/global reception for Canadian designers at NYFW? Often in fashion, for a designer to gain global recognition it’s all about a snowball effect. One big player in the industry likes or promotes a new brand, and then the rest of the industry quickly follows suit. If a designer has what it takes, and is bringing to fashion something new and eexciting, there will surely be American/global reception. It’s all about one key person taking notice.

Which designers are you excited to see? We’re excited to see Sid Neigum, Ksubi, Gat Rimon (who are all taking part in Rendez-Vous as well). If we were to attend fashion shows, we would love to see Proenza Schouler, Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein.

What do you love about NYFW? What do you hate about NYFW? We love the buzz and excitement around new designers and collections coming out of North America. Fashion week in general is the most exciting part for all of us– the energy, creativity, and passion in fashion is really inspiring.

What is the best part about going home? The best part about coming home is the drive and fire beneath our feet generated after being in such a stimulating environment. We look forward to the energy and excitement we’ll acquire from New York to feed into designing our next collection.
