Sequined foot cozy, the show's flashy accessory.
While many fashion shows have the air of haughtiness and indifference you'd expect from style-centrics, a Comrags presentation feels more like a family reunion attended by a cast of longtime customers and collaborators who all show up in favourite pieces from past seasons.
They come to not only support the label but also to shop the catwalk which, for Fall 2013, meant marking honeycomb jacquard jackets, shadow print coats and jumpsuits in the line's staple Crush fabric on their programs.
We followed the designer duo for the day from their disco ball decorated studio to their show space at Andrew Richard Designs for our first of five features in this season's Fashion Week Day in the Life... series.
What are three words that describe your Fall 2013 collection?
Joyce: Spare and refined.
Judy: Textural, restrained, committed.
Can you sleep the night before a show?
Judy: Falling asleep is easy. Staying asleep is more difficult.
What are some of your show day rituals?
Judy: I'm not good with last minute chaos so I like to go over line-ups, check and re-check clothes...be over-organized.
Joyce: Waiting until the last minute to decide what to wear.
What's the one interview questions you never want to be asked again?
Judy: Why we've chosen to show where we have, and why not here or there...
Is it easy to wind down from the fashion show frenzy?
Judy: Yes. It's like ‘having a baby' pain. When it's done, it's done.
