While it seems like another American retailer announces its impending Toronto arrival every other week lately, Queen and Ossington’s newest opening-soon spot has its roots in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Gravity Pope (gravitypope.com) has been selling footwear, clothing and accessories in western Canada for 22 years. Its fresh Queen West digs, 4,000 square feet on three levels built around a vintage staircase reclaimed from the Paramount Theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina, launches at the beginning of November, stocked with labels like Chie Mahara, Rachel Comey, Billy Reid, Arielle Di Pinto and Santa Maria Novella scents.
