Are you buzzed about saving bees? Do you like crafty DIY projects? Then The Shop’s (1139 College, 416-824-2555) bee hotel workshop is perfect for you.
From 10 am to noon on Saturday, August 8, learn how to build an 8″ x 12″ bee hotel for solitary bees with no other place to rest or lay eggs. The hotel can be easily hung in your backyard. Solitary bees, which are smaller than bumblebees and honeybees, account for 90 per cent of the bee population and rarely sting.
The event has been developed in partnership with Beekeeper’s Naturals, a homegown natural product company that offers sustainable and effective bee products.
The workshop cost is $75 per hotel, and up to three people can work on a hotel. Find more info or register online here.
