Kensington Market's new queen of cookbooks and other pantry paraphernalia dishes on the holiday treats she's craving this year. Surprisingly, it's not all omelette pans, whisks and egg cups.
What's the best gift you've ever received?
This is a predictable answer: my store (Good Egg, 267 Augusta, 416-593-4663). But how could anything else compare? It's not like I have children.

What's the best gift you've ever given?
My sister fancied a slinky silver bracelet from my arsenal, so after she delivered twin girls, I gave her the clothing off my back (or wrist, as it were). I also gave her the gift of time and spent a few months in a sweaty Tel Aviv apartment keeping her company during her third trimester.
What's on your list this year?
A gift certificate to Colborne Lane (45 Colborne, 416-368-9009). The food is beautiful and creative and not anything I can create at home. And a dog from the Toronto Humane Society (by donation, 11 River, 416-392-2273, torontohumanesociety.com). I'm not fussy about breeds, as long as it has warm eyes and loves to cook.
