Jen Markowitz

Rating: NNNNN

Who: Jen Markowitz, filmmaker and bass player/singer of Dance Yourself to Death

Where: Lowther and Walmer

When: Thursday afternoon

Clothing: “I found my razor-blade necklace at the Portobello Road market in London. I bought the MTV T at Over the Rainbow (101 Yorkville, 416-967-7448) for around $30. My necklace, my glass bead bracelet and my ruby bracelet were made by Melodie Hebscher – a talented jewellery maker who happens to be my mother! ( melhebs@hotmail.com). I just bought these jeans at the Levi’s store (218 Yonge, 416-408-0372) for $80. My mix tape belt buckle was a find at one of those rocker stores on Yonge for $25. I bought the chain belt for $5 at a wardrobe sale. I found these vintage confetti-and-royal-blue heels at Pumped (1028 Kingston, 416-691-4543) for $25. The Carpe Diem ring I found jammed between two cobblestones on a street in Trastevere, Rome. I thought it was a very romantic discovery until I realized the rings were being sold at a store exactly 12 feet away. My other rings belonged to various members of my family at one time or another.”

Hair: “Cut by Jane at Coupe Bizzarre (704 Queen West, 416-504-0783) or the lovely Emma Rose at the Lid Lounge (115-B Church, 416-367-5437). I did the colour myself.”

My Style: “Past-life punk reborn as a tomboy princess”

Into: “My band being cast to play in the prom scene in the Elton John-produced film It’s A Boy Girl Thing, currently shooting in Toronto gigging at the Rock Your Tits Off fundraiser November 29 at the Gladstone observing the pandemonium caused by Friendster’s Who’s Viewed Me feature.”
