Kia’s 2022 Sorento PHEV is the perfect commuting vehicle as people return to the office

Sorento PHEV

After almost two years, many Canadians are finally returning to the office, leaving makeshift home office set-ups in the dust. For those who are beyond excited to resume spending time with their favourite coworkers and working from their desk – Kia’s all-new 2022 Sorento PHEV will safely get them there.

Kia Canada recently introduced the Sorento plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) as the first of seven all new electrified vehicles slated to make their way to Canada by 2025. The Sorento PHEV allows for an estimated all-electric driving range of up to 51 kilometres, making it a great option for commuters who live on the cusp of the city. Many Torontonians left the downtown scene during the pandemic, however as people start to return to the office or become more comfortable with exploring the hustle and bustle of Toronto, the Sorento PHEV is the perfect vehicle to get you in and out the city. Its hybrid mix of gas and electric means Canadians get to experience the best of both worlds.

The benefits of a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle

The PHEV is an excellent option for those just starting out in the world of electric vehicles. While driving, the gas engine and electric motor work together to make the commute as efficient as possible. When the electric battery runs low, the vehicle will automatically switch over to hybrid mode to use a combination of both fuel and electric power, maintaining a designated battery charge to support hybrid driving.

Once home, it’s as simple as plugging into a regular wall socket to charge the battery overnight so you can start your morning commute with a full charge. By owning a plug-in hybrid vehicle, one can significantly reduce their carbon footprint while saving money on gas.

What sets the Kia Sorento PHEV apart from other electrified vehicles?

Folks who commute to work on a daily basis require a little more out of their vehicle, including affordable gas mileage, a high-quality audio system and comfortable seating. Plus, a spacious interior with plenty of room for weekend gear.

“With consumers wanting to make an active lifestyle change to go ‘greener’, the Sorento PHEV is a great place to start,” says Director of Marketing at Kia Canada Michael Kopke. “Canadians are becoming more self-aware of their day-to-day habits and how to become more sustainable – and Kia is taking huge strides to help make those changes in habits happen.”

The eco-friendly vehicle also has some state-of-the-art features, including three rows of seating and two captain’s chairs. Because it has a total of six seats, it’s perfect for people who like to go on road trips with their family or friends. In terms of safety features, the Kia Sorento PHEV has cameras that provide 360-degree perspective, as well as a Blind View Monitor that projects a live video view of adjacent lanes.

Those who enjoy humming along to tunes during their commute will be impressed by the audio system built into the Kia Sorento PHEV. Every model has six speakers, Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone integration. The SX trim features a Bose premium sound system, which is ideal for carpool karaoke.

Office-goers can now look forward to taking a safe and eco-friendly commute with the all-new Sorento PHEV if they aren’t comfortable taking public transit yet.

It’s time to go green

The price of the Kia Sorento PHEV starts at $44,995, not including the green government incentives to purchase an electric vehicle. Provincial rebates vary by province but the federal rebate is $2,500.
