WHO: Laura McWade, firefighter with the Toronto Fire Services, Station 333
WHEN: Friday, 2 pm
WHERE: Let It Ride (2229 Queen East, 416-693-9472)
CLOTHING: "I got most of the snowboarding gear in this photo from Let It Ride. The Arson jacket by Tempest costs $240, the Orb Two Step pants are $180. This Forum Youngblood snowboard sells for $485, and the Ride VXN bindings were $245. My Grenade Purple Hart gloves cost $90. I bought this fleece pullover at Mountain Equipment Co-op (400 King West, 416-340-2667) for $79.99, and I got my long johns there as well. I think I paid about $25 for them. I spontaneously traded a ratty old scarf of mine for my stylin' Swiss Army military watch. Go figure. I'm wearing earrings that I got from an arts festival in Gisborne, New Zealand. These snowboarding boots are by Lamar and cost $159 at Gen-X Sports (36 Dufflaw, 416-630-4996)."
HAIR: "This is my $12 cut by Zita at First Choice Haircutters (2114 Queen East, 416-699-3943, and others) in the Beach. She's the best!"
MY STYLE: "Wearing a uniform keeps my clothing budget to a minimum. I try not to wear navy blue on days off! My friends would describe my style as casual California surfer wannabe. It's all about practical clothes, lots of cotton and poly-prop - they're warm, a bit stylish and can go into the dryer!"
INTO: "Snowboarding, playing on two hockey teams and walking my pit bull, Elroy. I also volunteer at the South Riverdale Community Health Centre seniors wellness group. I strive for daily serenity and acceptance of life on life's terms."
