CLOTHING: “My hat is designed by Aysha Araya, who is behind the Mohawk label. I paid $75 for it when it was dropped off for me recently it was hard to find her in her studio (Mohawk, 416-949-3265). My denim pantaloon knickers cost $200 and are also Mohawk. I wanted something with a subtle quality of distortion for a while, so I was pleased when Aysha made them for me. The leather Feline top I have on was a gift from my friend Philip. He found it at Psyche (352 Queen West, 416-599-4882). I picked up the Astro-boy bag at Dragon Seed Gift Shop (261B Spadina, 416-696-7978) for about $40. I like the message written on the back of the bag, which reads, “Love everything that has life / Do not wage war.” My Aldo boots (393 Queen West, 416-340-9882, and others) were $200 a few years ago.”
HAIR: “My stylist, Howard, used to work at Beauty Queen (249 Queen West, 416-977-4277), but I don’t know where he is now.”
STYLE: “Eccentric localism, involving Toronto-based and Canadian design. Style is not about conforming to societal mirrors or object-driven consciousness. I think clothing relates to sexuality along paths of comfort, play and subjective movement energies that are ever communicative.”
INTO: “Poetry, art, film, everyday enigmas and lobbying for a global orgy instead of war. I’m hosting the Box Salon, which features short readings, performances and video screenings at Bar Italia, upper level (582 College, 416-535-3621), Tuesday, February 25, at 8 pm.”
