If you could have a wedding ceremony anywhere in Toronto, where would it be?

“Regardless of your actual interest in marriage, if you could have a wedding ceremony anywhere in Toronto, where would it be?”

The Toronto Islands are possibly the best thing about this city, which is why it makes perfect sense that it was the most common response, both in the general and the specific, e.g., the Hanlan’s Point nude beach. (No one picked the Scrambler.)

After that, there was a lot of Casa Loma, Brickworks, etc. — popular places that actually do host a lot of weddings.

And then there were these excellent suggestions:

  • The foot of the Scarborough Bluffs at dawn
  • Aboard a chartered streetcar
  • Dinosaur gallery at the ROM
  • The Gem
  • Allan Gardens
  • Enoch Turner Schoolhouse
  • The 519
  • The gazebo in the Beaches
  • Home plate at the Rogers Centre
  • Miller Lash House at U of T Scarborough
  • Pirate-themed wedding on the Empire Sandy
  • Riverdale Farm
  • I’ve got it all planned out. It’s going to be in council chambers, the officiant will sit in the speaker’s seat and we will table a member’s motion. Stories and photos of our relationship will be in the staff report and circulated by the clerk. The guests will sit in the councillors’ seats. There will be a recorded vote while bells chime softly.
  • The AGO’s Galleria Italia
  • The stage at Massey Hall
  • The Rex
  • Koerner Hall
  • The lighthouse in Tommy Thompson Park
  • CN Tower EdgeWalk
  • Horseshoe Tavern
  • Bellwoods Brewery
  • The second floor of the St. Lawrence Market on a busy Saturday morning
  • Bridge over the Humber at sunset
  • Sneaky Dee’s
  • Midnight, full moon, at the Necropolis
  • Roy Thomson Hall (every musician’s dream)
  • Toronto Zoo
  • Ripley’s Aquarium
  • The Silver Snail
