Matt Thomas

Rating: NNNNN

Who: Matt Thomas, writer, filmmaker, strip club waiter

Where: Kensington Market alley

When: Saturday, 3 pm

Clothing: “I got my all-purpose man boots at Payless Shoesource (673 Yonge, 416-920-8377, and others) for the cheap price of $13.50. My well-loved camouflage pants came from the good old boys at AAA Army Surplus (199 Baldwin, 416-597-9592) in Kensington Market for $25. My leather snap belt (like most of my good fashion) comes from my boyfriend’s closet. He bought it in a San Francisco leather emporium. The Toolbox belt buckle is a souvenir from the now defunct east-end gay sex bar, bought for a steal at $10. My shirt is a Kids On TV/Micheal Comeau ‘Cockwolf’ original design that I helped silkscreen (kidsontv@yahoo.ca). My kitschy Boy Scout uniform comes ‘straight’ from Exile (62 Kensington, 416-595-6172, and other) for around $25. My white-hot BMX bike/big dick wristband is a handmade design from the genius of Zavisha (sales@chubbalicious. com). My blue velcro and faux wood button is a Sandy Plotnikoff (laundry-line.net), and my tit pin (a large pin portrait of my own chest) is a product of Paige Gratland and Ginger Brooks Takahashi‘s The Tit Pin Project art project. The hat’s a cheap DIY iron-on/glitter combo made in about five minutes, because it’s cheaper to learn to make what you like. My filthy punk underwear is all Will Munro (www.willmunro.ca). The Super 8 camera tattoo on my calf and the Wojnarowicz burning house stencil on my forearm came from Yonge Street Tattoos (602 Yonge, 416-929-2285).”

HAIR: “A razor, a mirror and a military sensibility.”

My Style: “Apocalyptically gay with a hint of practical thrift punk.”

Into: “When I’m not slinging drinks to drooling strip club patrons, I’m doing my best to piece together a screenplay or waving around a Super 8 camera. I work at Remington’s, a gay strip club. I’ll be getting in touch with the little girl inside me at Ladyfest Toronto, October 1 to 3 (http://ladyfest.ca).”
