WHO: Miss Rogue, aka Tara Hunt, disco diva for CreamSoda Funk (www.creamsodafunk.com) performing Sunday (November 16) at Revival (783 College, 416-535-7888). WHEN: Monday, 3 pm
WHERE: The Bovine Sex Club (542 Queen West, 416-504-4239)
CLOTHING: "I bought my shoes at In Shoes (264 Spadina, 416-351-0315) for $60. I rented my jumpsuit for $30 at Thunder Thighs Costumes (16 Busy, 416-462-0621), and my bracelet and earrings are from FlashBack (33 Kensington, 416-598-2981) and were $5 and $2.50 respectively. This disco handbag was a gift from my best friend, Carol Ellen, who rocks! It was a vintage bag of her grandmother's. My makeup was done by R. Hiscott Beauty Supplies and Theatrical (435 Yonge, 416-977-5247). I use Got2b In Control brand hairspray, which is a must for the sausage-roll look and can be purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart (524 Queen West, 416-703-0228, and others). I also got my hairnet at the drug store, but they've been discontinued. I got my sandwich board for $150 at Orchid Signs (200 Spadina, 416-977-2550 )."
HAIR: "Both my colour and my cut (fashioned after Farrah) are the
masterpiece of my honey, Disco Ken, at John Steinberg & Associates (585 King West, 416-506-0268). The best new hair accessory is a man!"
MY STYLE: "Disco cowgirl. A blend of my new life in Toronto and my recent roots in Calgary."
INTO: "Disco, funk, 70s culture, hedonism, anything campy (I'm a drag queen trapped in a woman's body), swinging, marketing, entertaining by whatever means, social climbing. CreamSoda is my personal brand. By creating a fun and unique promotion in the city where we've seen it all, I hope to demonstrate how an effective brand can be accomplished with very little money and a lot of heart and soul. How am I doing?"
