WHO: Carly Stojsic, C.I.T. (coutourier in training)
WHEN: Saturday, 11:30 pm
WHERE: The Mod Club Theatre (722 College)
CLOTHING: “I bought these pixie ankle boots at Browns (Eaton Centre, 416-979-9270, and others) for $250, and my legwarmers are vintage Holt Renfrew (50 Bloor West, 416-922-2333, and other)cashmere from my mother’s closet. My hot pink DKNY tights were a gift. I made my houndstooth mini skirt (carly_yumyum@hotmail.com). I can make one for you, too, for between $115 and $150. My J’adore Dior T-shirt cost around $300 U.S. from the Christian Dior boutique in Manhattan. This Laundry by Shelli Segal jacket was about $299 U.S. in L.A. It looks like a cow print but is actually a pattern made of photos of an audience. I bought my vintage 1970s Vogue magazine clutch purse for $225 at Sticks and Stones Antiques (1854 Queen East, 416-699-9611). The owner of this antique shop got it off eBay (www.ebay.com). You can get other magazine covers as well. The Ebony and Hustler covers are much more expensive than, say, a cover that says ‘Paris’ or something. It’s weird that I’m not wearing any jewellery, because normally I wear tons. San Remo (23 St. Thomas, 416-920-3195) is one of my favourite shops to buy jewels.” HAIR: “I get my hair cut and dyed at Tonic in Montreal. My stylist, Trent, is a god for the locks.”
MY STYLE: “Diverse, eclectic. I have a diverse group of friends and my fashion pendulum swings toward how I’m feeling and where I’m going. Sometimes I’m very Charlotte-conservative and other times I’m a Joey Ramone bitch-slapping backstage groupie. Sometimes I’m the country club second wife, other times I dress like a derelict.” INTO: “Snogging and snubbing, swearing and earmuffs, giggling, deciphering everyone else’s MO, Yung Sing Pastry Shop (22 Baldwin, 416-979-2832) on Sundays followed by smoky treats at the Hot Box Café (191A Baldwin, 416-203-6990) and mad eBaying for vintage everything.”
