WHO: Paul Kotyk, former rider for the Jet Fuel cycling team (www.cyclepromo.com), one of three Canadian pro teams that have competed internationally.

WHERE: Cutting through a parking lot near Queen and Bathurst

WHEN: Friday afternoon

CLOTHES: “The boots are E3s from Mountain Equipment Co-op (400 King West, 416-340-2667). These are my favourite jeans – they’re low-rise and come already broken in. I got them at H&M (1 Dundas West, 416-623-4300, and others) for only $40. My T-shirt is an official Jet Fuel team issue made by DeFeet brand. I bought this sweater in Kensington Market for $25. My Swatch watch was a gift from my girlfriend, Kate she picked it out for me in New York. I’ve had this belt for 10 years, and it keeps stretching, which makes me feel thinner all the time! Got it at Asylum (62 Kensington, 416-595-7199) for just $10. I picked up this great hat with cozy ear flaps at the One Of A Kind Show for $19. My jacket’s from Duke’s Cycle (625 Queen West, 416-504-6138). It’s deceptively warm, ultra-thermal and the best I’ve ever worn. It was $180, made by Biemme. My gloves are by Cannondale ($49, Duke’s) and fit great. My arm ink was done at Abstract Arts (452 Queen West, 416-504-8288). I got it while still drunk the day after dancing onstage at a Prodigy concert. I got this bag ($139, Urbane Cyclist, 180 John, 416-979-9733) when I was a bike courier. The job lasted four days… people just don’t know what those dudes go through. My ride is the best of the best. Its a Cervello r2.5 weighing in at only 15 pounds. It’s full carbon fibre, used by the pros in the Tour de France. I got it at Duke’s, a great place for all your biking needs.”

HAIR: “Robert at House of Lords (639 Yonge, 416-962-1111).” MY STYLE: “Absent-minded Renaissance man with dopamine junkie tendencies.”

INTO: “Racing, quantum physics, social dynamics, sunsets, long walks, good food, being grounded by my girlfriend, Xbox hockey, photography, existentialism, living on Toronto Island.”

COMING UP: Going to Mexico to ride and chill
