Congratulations to Jillian on being the Grand Prize winner! Read her story below:

Three years ago, after my work Christmas party, I found a lost Blackberry in the cab and took it home. I contacted the owner and arranged to meet with him. The next day, I met him at Dufferin Mall. We chatted while I shopped, he carried my bags to my car and asked me out for a coffee. It was the day I met the love of my life and it’s been love and romance ever since!

Special Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit their romantic stories. The contest entries were so good, we just had to share some of our favourites:

Cherry beach in Toronto is filled on Sunday night’s in the summer with people enjoying our beautiful city. That’s where I met him for the first time. His name was Julien, a Frenchman from France. He approached me in all the chaos and introduced himself.  Instant chemistry I missed this feeling. His eyes spoke softly as we danced. We stared up at the half moon and that’s when the firecrackers went off. We kissed. Thank you Toronto for bringing us together. -Melissa

For our third date we spent the day at the AGO admiring the Picasso exhibit. To be honest I recall little about the art from that day. I was too distracted trying to impress the girl in the cute summer dress. Surprisingly my mediocre knowledge of art history did not fail me we spent the rest of that warm evening on my balcony, eating fruit salad and watching the lights of Toronto. I fell in love with that girl that night…and I’m marrying her this summer. -Tristan

For our anniversary I took a whole pad of post-it notes and wrote a very small love letter on each one. I then placed them all over our downtown condo on everything you can imagine. The tv remote, toothpaste, items in the fridge, light switches. Everything she would touch throughout the day had a love note on it. Even the most basic task she was reminded she was loved. -Andrew

2 years ago my partner transformed his apartment in Toronto into a fancy restaurant because, as students, we couldn’t afford to go out. He made dinner from scratch (pasta and fresh rolls) and set up fancy plates and wine at the table. It was the most romantic surprise! -Colleen

Asked my fiancé to marry me on a snowy day on the Don Valley trails a year ago. Felt like we were in a snow globe! Quiet, cold, snow falling, and while not the most historically romantic place, at that moment, it might as well have been asking her atop the Eiffel tower. Snow pants, hats, mitts and rosy cheeks she said yes. I’ll never forget the exact place every time we walk there. -Matt

Hi! my name is Shawn, and I’m a Toronto based professional actor. My most romantic Toronto moment was a hidden camera proposal to my wife Melissa. The occasion took place downtown, at what she thought was an audition for the children’s animated series Bakugan. I have attached a link to the surprise wedding proposal video: http://youtu.be/3CfyxtaImt0 -Shawn

My best friend and I met in high school at a car-wash fundraiser for our school musical.  He was fifteen at the time and had soap suds in his eye, I helped him wash them out.  He bravely admitted he had feelings for me early on but I was too scared to fess up to mine out of fear of losing him.  Eight years later we were still best friends and he took me out for my birthday to dinner but figured we wouldn’t need reservations at the Keg (which we apparently did) so we ended up at SPIN, bought me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers from a local shop in Etobicoke and than took me home to a surprise party with the people whom I love most.  It was the best birthday I’ve ever had and I admitted I had feelings for him shortly after and we’ve been together now for three years.  I am going to marry my best friend and it all started at a carwash in the tenth grade. -Saphire

I met my true love walking on Queen with a flat tire on my bike. He offered to help fix it. He was no stranger to my eyes. I had seen him leaving his building with a bike next door to mine so I agreed. Soon after I rode my bike and heard the other tire pop! I went to find the man who helped me before and since then we have gone on many bike rides across the city to find hidden gems. He likes to tease that I made those tires flat purposely so I could make him fall in love with me. -Waverly

May 5, 2012 – Cinco De Mayo. Leaving Spice Route, we were walking to St. Andrew Station & got into a discussion about marriage. He’s like, “wait a second, did you just propose?” I said, “yes, I guess I did.” To make it official I got down on one knee and proposed to my now husband on the subway platform. We got married later that year. -@subduedprincess
