Runway review: Jessica Jensen + Alexander Berardi

Jessica Jensen and Alexander Berardi connected at their shared New York showroom and it was definitely a fortuitous meeting. Handbag designer Jensen’s cleanly woven clutches, box-shaped handbags and oversized totes are a perfect compliment to Berardi’s sporty and luxe collection, so much so that the duo collaborated on a show at Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week in September.

They brought the presentation to Toronto on Tuesday night, offering up a tightly edited 12 looks inspired by Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless and the easy style of the Hamptons. Standout Berardi pieces included a wood beaded tank, flowing sequin pants and a knotted black halter dress. Jensen’s greatest hits were limited edition pieces that wove strips of polka dot silk and striped jersey into the leather.
