Sure, the Shangri-La Hotel (180 University, 416-599-0333) has traditional valet service and concierges who’ll hail you a cab, but the property is also promoting a new, eco-friendly way for guests to see the sights.
The hotel recently commissioned a fleet of 10 chic city bikes from Toronto company Simcoe. Their distinct style is meant to mimic Shanghai bicycles of the 1940s with detachable baskets and traditional bells. Guests can take one out for a ride free of charge, and the concierge team provides helmets and tire pumps and recommends routes.
What better way to introduce travellers to local cycling culture?
