Style Notes for December 12 to 18

Designer sale weekend

The style stars have aligned this week for a big batch of designer sales. Thursday (December 13) through Sunday (December 16), hat maker Headmistress (pictured above) hosts a pop up shop at Norman Felix Gallery (627 Queen West). On Saturday (December 15), labels Jeremy Laing, Arielle de Pinto, CALLA and Rita Liefhebber team up for a sample sale at Laing’s studio (207A Cowan) from noon until 6 pm. Also Saturday, Caitlin Power and Made With Love co-host a holiday flash sale at The Burroughes Building (639 Queen West) from 11 am to 7 pm.

Gifts all around

Gift cards have helped ease the holiday pressure of finding the perfect present for the hard-to-shop-for type on your list but sometimes it’s impossible to even narrow down which store’s certificate you should choose? That’s where the Gift Network comes in. The site features a single card that can be used at stores around town including spots like BYOB Cocktail Emporium, Cabaret Vintage and The Cookbook Store or online at thegiftnetwork.com where you can build a registry of every buy you desire.

Hit up Harbord

If braving the mall during the holidays isn’t your thing, this weekend’s Harbord Street Sale might be just what your incomplete gift shopping list ordered. Ten small businesses between Spadina and Bathurst are offering great deals this Saturday including 10 per off kids’ books at Parentbooks (201 Harbord) and 15 per cent off more adult-oriented buys at Good for Her (175 Harbord). Look for additional deals at Bakka Phoenix, Caversham Booksellers, Wonderworks, Tangle Gallery, The Harbord Bakery, The Curl Ambassadors and Chabichou.

Holiday flea

The Junction Flea’s (junctionflea.com) move indoors to the Great Hall (1087 Queen West) last month brought out a whole new batch of shoppers who hadn’t gone west to Keele and Dundas to check out its earlier, outdoor editions. We’re betting they’ll all be back at the Great Hall this Sunday between 10 am and 5 pm for the holiday edition of the event featuring over 40 vintage, clothing, antique, food and craft vendors. Admission is $5.
