The neighbourhood is now widely developed and bursting with towering condos, a bustling nightlife scene, eclectic restaurants and some of the city’s best beauty and fitness hotspots.
This is not the place for peace and quiet. King West is for those seeking a true downtown Toronto experience. There’s always something to do – as you can see from our features, the club scene is burgeoning and retail’s on the rise, as well. The area is also highly walkable with easy-to-access public transit and even a few great green spaces equipped with off-leash dog parks.
One thing’s for sure: if you’re living on King West, you’ll never be bored.
A walk in the park
Where to find green spaces near King West’s concrete corridor
King West is in the middle of the city’s concrete jungle, but the strip’s not without green spaces.
Saint Andrew’s Playground (450 Adelaide West) is a small park with a kids’ playground and an off-leash dog area. It’s the perfect destination for a quick walk during your lunch break, and after a few visits you’ll see that a lot of people in the park are getting to know each other.
Stanley Park (76 Walnut) is larger, with more open space and a sizable off-leash area for dogs. It also has a basketball court, two tennis courts, a playground, a shuffleboard court and a small outdoor pool.
Though it’s in the heart of King West, Stanley Park remains relatively quiet. It’s a great option for those who don’t want to deal with Trinity Bellwoods’ massive crowds come summer.
