Need a coffin-shaped backpack? Queen West goth mecca Siren turns lucky 13 this weekend, and proprietors Groovella and Ultrakat celebrate by knocking 25 per cent off everything in the store for one day only on Saturday (March 24). It's a great chance to fill your wardrobe with clothing, accessories and shoes by must-have-for-creatures-of-the-night labels including Lip Service, Desire and Dark Angel. Doors are open the very undead hours of 10 am to 7 pm, and the anniversary bash also doubles as a launch party for Siren's Web site, www.sirenweb.com. 463 Queen West. 416-504-9288. Ever wondered about the European Designer Clearance Centre at 11 Bloor West? The temporary canvas signage and lack of a phone listing give dollar-store signals, but the high-end merchandise in fact comes from Stollery's (1 Bloor West, 416-922-6173), the straitlaced haberdashery next door. Since it's Burberry central, this bastion of a certain aesthetic got a major hip injection when the British outerwear giant's beige-and-black plaid became ubiquitous on runways through 2000. Right now, Stollery's is having a 20-to-50-per-cent-off sale, and there are even deeper discounts (up to 75 per cent off, with suits starting at $247 and men's dress socks three pairs for $11) next door. But that's ending in a month, when the clearance centre is scheduled to close its doors. Expect the markdowns to get even better at 11 Bloor West as the month wears on.
