This Ain’t the Rosedale Library (483 Church, 416-929-9912) is moving from its gaybourhood digs to the progressive pastures of Kensington Market. Until the new location opens at 86 Nassau in the first week of May, regularly priced hardcover books and picks from the bargain stacks at the Church Street spot are 30 to 50 per cent off.
So long, MiMa
One of our favourite stationery stops is closing up shop. MiMa Design (400 King East, 416-423-0679, www.mimadesign.com) will shut its doors at the end of April and is holding a contents sale to clean out the leftovers. Until April 13, everything from the store’s stock to its retail fixtures is up for grabs. Stationery sale items include paper, ribbon and rolls of vintage Italian wallpaper. If you’re thinking of starting a stationery business of your own, pick up paper cutters and creasers, printers and more.
H&M designer rollouts usually come with a stampede of door-crashers eager for a taste of budget high style and a YouTube video library of the fast fashion melee. Here’s hoping the launch of their spring Marimekko collection on April 10 is a bit more subdued. Swimwear, sundresses, silk scarves, men’s shirts and walking shorts are printed with colourful spots, stripes and black-on-white florals. The line will available in Toronto at H&M’s Eaton Centre (1 Dundas West, 416-593-0064), Queen (427-429 Queen West, 416-593-0167), Bloor (13-15 Bloor West, 416-920-4029) and Yorkdale (3401 Dufferin, 416-256-3997) stores.
Sale swan song
It’s the bitter end of winter sale season, but there are still a few deals to be had at Nathalie-Roze & Co. (1015 Queen East, 416-792-1699, www.nathalie-roze.com). Cold-weather remainders are marked down by 20 to 70 per cent, but we’re betting you’ll be lured into buying fresh spring merch like Pink Wagon bird bags and Lilikoi organic duds. Mark April 24 in you calendar for the seasonal Snoflake/Dagg and Stacey Trunk Sale from 6 to 9:30 pm.
