The week after Christmas is the sweetest shopping time of all, with every — and we do mean every — retailer offering significant discounts on at least some part of their merchandise. Go forth and shop. Here are some our favourite spots with great post-holiday prices on things you might want to get for yourself.
Pierced Passage
Body art specialists Passage are offering drastic — 40 to 90 per cent — reductions on all in-stock body jewellery. Basically, the way the pricing runs, the bigger the ring, the bigger the savings. Surgical steel, acrylic, niobium and gold are all reduced to clear. The sale starts January 2 and runs through the month. 473 Church. 416-929-7330.
Blunt Bargains
The Australian Boot Company never has sales, since their entire inventory consists of timeless classics. But this year, from December 26 to 30, they’re reducing the prices on every boot in both locations (2644 Yonge, 791 Queen West) by $20 to $60. It’s a great time to spring for that coveted pair of R.M. Williams or Blundstone boots.
Hip Hoax
Top Toronto design team Hoax Couture have let slip that, from today (Thursday, December 27), their anything-but-ordinary black suits for both men and women are being reduced by a very enticing 50 per cent. 114 Cumberland. 416-929-4629.
Deal Zone
Bloor Street jobber Just Deals has a steady trickle of singularly good stuff, like second-quality designer denims at one-third the retail price, and down-filled jackets for $99. This one is worth making a regular stop. 236 Bloor West. 416-964-6814.
Active Value
Toronto’s artists, tech geeks and Junkyard Wars aspirants already know that the single greatest store in town is Active Surplus, where last year’s cool tool is being sold for next to nothing because it’s already obsolete. Don’t expect to see sales signs that make any mention of Boxing Day, but with prices that are already ridiculously low, this is one place you’ll want to go year round. 347 Queen West. 416-593-0909.
