Forget January shopping guilt. You can do as much good as credit rating damage visiting swanky footwear spot Ron White (ronwhite.ca). The store's 13th annual shoe drive for the homeless is on now. Until February 15, stop by any of the chain's six GTA shops and donate gently worn boots, brogues and pumps. Love those shoes too much to give them up? Donations from celebs including Jeremy Irons, Paul Gross and designer David Dixon are on display at the Manulife Centre location (55 Bloor West, 416-964-6400) to convince your feet to part with that favourite old pair.
It's been almost a year since the Queen and Bathurst fire burned down Preloved's original location. Since then, the eco-fashion trailblazer has soldiered on, showing at T.O.'s Fashion Week and opening a new boutique (881 Queen West, 416-504-8704). Now, Preloved has relaunched preloved.ca. Aside from a clean-lined look that highlights the brand's evolution from crafty to clean collections, it debuts Preloved's spring look book, beautifully shot at the rag house where they pick up blocks of ready-to-be-reworked vintage.
We love anything felt, and the matted-fibre housewares stitched up by Felt's (feltstudio.com) Kathryn Walter are a favourite local take on the fabric. Her quilt exhibition, on now at Made (867 Dundas West, 416-607-6384, madedesign.ca), includes colour-blocked bedspreads and wall hangings made from offcuts and remnant scraps. Speaking of Made, owners Shaun Moore and Julie Nicholson have announced the dates and location for this year's Radiant Dark design exhibition. Elegant Corruptions takes place February 4 to 8 at 360 Dufferin, unit 201.
