The second part of Parisian knit wit Sonia Rykiel’s collaboration with H&M (hm.com) hits the Eaton Centre, Bloor and Yorkdale stores Saturday (February 20). Striped sweaters, bow-embellished tops and drawstring jumpsuits are done in chic black-and-white and a hot palette of pinks, yellows and oranges. The lineup also includes girl’s pieces, a first for the retailer’s designer partnerships.

Since we’re already thinking spring style-wise, the timing of Vintage Gardener’s (55 Mill, building 57, 416-364-6232, vintagegardener.com) Cabin Fever Breakaway Brunch is perfect. At Sunday’s (February 21) event at Tappo (55 Mill, building 3, 647-430-1111), owner Elaine Martin shows guests how to force branches and bulbs to bloom. Tickets are $55 or $95 for two.

Tickets are now on sale for my pet fundraising project, Buy Design, benefiting Windfall (windfallbasics.com), Canada’s only new clothing bank. The April 10 event in the Fermenting Cellar at the Distillery District (55 Mill) has a Dirty 30s theme, with a mess hall silent auction, croquet and badminton lawns and a boater pageant. Tickets are $75 or six for $375, available online at buydesignforwindfall.ca.

Elte’s (80 Ronald, 416-785-7885, elte.com) modern rug and dining room sale ends Sunday (February 21). Carpets sized from 2-by-3 to 10-by-14 feet are marked down 20 per cent. The same discount applies to tables, chairs, buffets and sideboards.

Grassroots (408 Bloor West, 416-944-1993 372 Danforth, 416-466-2841, grassrootsstore.com) is making room for its spring clothing arrivals with 60 per cent discounts this month on Canadian-designed and -manufactured eco-wear including jeans, shirts and hoodies.
