Fresh flea

The city’s flea market fascination continues to grow with this weekend’s launch of the Parkdale Flea (parkdaleflea.com). Featuring antiques, vintage buys, collectibles, design objects plus snack and refreshment vendors, the flea takes place Sunday (July 7) and August 4 from 10 am to 5 pm at 1266 Queen West. Admission is free, and pets are welcome.

Stitch it

If you’d like to spend summer hunched over a sewing machine perfecting your stitching skills, Sew Be It Studio (2711 Yonge, 416-488-1607) has a full calendar of classes set up to keep you busy. Check out sewbeitstudio.com to register for beginner, intermediate and advanced courses, including fast-track sessions. Prices range from $250 to $330.

Holt beauty

Holt Renfrew recently launched a new Beauty Hall at its Yorkdale store (3401 Dufferin, 416-789-5377, holtrenfrew.com). The space is stocked with cosmetics and skin care brands including Erno Laszlo, LAB Series, Jack Black, Kiehl’s, Byredo, Diptyque, Acqua di Parma, Tom Ford, Hermès and new arrival Aesop. It also includes a primp-and-polish nail bar and skin care suites for more private treatments.

Distillery dresses

One of the Distillery District’s fresh arrivals is designer Jessica Rose’s eponomyous shop (17 Trinity, 416-368-8228, jessicarosedesign.com). The industrial space is stocked with made-in-Toronto bamboo jersey dresses in hues like turquoise and cobalt, including a signature double-layer design priced from $99 to $299. Also look for accessories like printed umbrellas and shawls and handmade jewellery.
