The good news is Shia LeBeouf didn’t wear a paper bag over his head. The bad news is he almost knocked over a Soho House waiter in his passionate quest to secure an orange from the bar. Why was it so urgent that he have this orange? We’ll never know. With LeBeouf, things are always bound to get a little weird.
The actor spent most his time at the Grey Goose after party for Man Down in an upstairs booth where he ordered a round of pizzas, while co-star Kate Mara was surrounded by friends at a separate table.

Down the road, Salma Hayek, Adrien Brody, Gerard Butler and Monika Bacardi partied at another Grey Goose sponsored bash at Byblos for their film Septembers of Shiraz. Brody and Hayek met with a cozy embrace, and spent the rest of the night at a table in deep conversation (we couldn’t overhear what they spoke about, but are sure it was something pressing like solving world hunger).
Butler, who notoriously likes to party and has seen the inside of a rehab centre, worked the room and spoke with admirers. We even spotted him breaking out some dance moves to The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face.
Speaking of The Weeknd, rumour had it the Canadian artist who refuses to talk with Canadian media, would show up at Mongrel House– but no such luck. Guests had to be satisfied ogling the Raptors’ Patrick Patterson and director Atom Egoyan instead.

Earlier that evening, the who’s who of Toronto society flocked to the Shangri-La Hotel for Birks’ annual Diamond Tribute to The Year’s Women in Film. Champagne flowed and bite-sized treats circled the room as guests enjoyed the night’s beautiful early September weather on the ballroom’s sizeable patio. The event’s honoured women included directors Sophie Deraspe, Anne Émond, Patricia Rozema, Kari Skogland, and Ingrid Veninger along with actors Katie Boland, Suzanne Clément, Catherine O’Hara, and Karine Vanasse.
