WHO -- Poet, actor, hiphop songwriter and spoken word performer True.
WHEN -- Saturday, 10 am.
WHERE --The Carlton streetcar.
CLOTHES -- "I'm a 70s kid -- I just love the soulful flavour of that era. I only do vintage, and I look for Afrocentric styles that don't look mass marketed. I got this denim wraparound with fake patchwork at Acme (36 Kensington, 599-4220) for $16, and this Adidas halter top was made from an old T-shirt by Courage My Love (14 Kensington, 979-1992). They sell them for $18. I got my silver hoop earrings at the Goodwill (234 Adelaide East, 366-2083, and others). A friend gave me my watch, and this ring is from Ethiopia and was given to me by a friend's mother, and these platform shoes cost $25 at Black Market (168 John, 599-5858, and others)."
HAIR -- "I do it myself. It's natural --I let it do whatever. It looks like dreadlocks, but it's not permanent."
STYLE -- "Soulful, funky and free."
UPCOMING -- "I'm performing Sunday (June 4) at the Reverb as part of the Honey Jam all-female urban music showcase, and on June 8 I'm playing the North By Northeast festival, at Kathedral."
