Sample the best of Texas at pop-up dinner

Did you look at the glorious, juicy ribs on cover of our Toronto’s Best BBQ issue and think “Dang, I know what I’m having for dinner tonight?” Joke’s on you, dear reader – those are from J&J Bar-B-Que in Kensington, who have sold out of most of their Central Texas-style BBQ menu well before dinnertime pretty much every day since opening this summer.

But if you’d like to get your fix a little later in the day, and maybe down a few Coronas or margaritas in the process, mark your calendar for September 29 (5:30 pm-2 am), when the pitmasters at J&J team head over to CityPlace Tex-Mex spot Macho Radio Bar for a one-night-only bash, a collab with Macho chef Guillermo Herbertson they’ve dubbed Don’t Mess With Texas. The chefs promise pulled pork and brisket (“with all the fixin’s”) alongside tacos, beer and tunes. Visit the event’s Facebook page for more details.
